Vertera Spine raises $3.1 million

Atlanta-based Vertera Spine Inc. raised more than $3 million, according to documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The company, located at 739 Trabert Avenue Northwest, began raising money Feb. 7.

Vertera CEO Christopher Lee could not immediately be reached for comment.
Vertera is a privately held medical device company that manufactures spinal implants. One of its products is the COHERE Cervical Interbody Fusion Device, which was named one of the top 10 best spine technologies of 2016 by Orthopedics This Week.
Founded in 2013, the company also has received funding from the National Science Foundation, Georgia Research Alliance and Duke Angel Network.
